点评:Hokkaido natural scenery in the summer was something we were looking foward to seeing.
Walking trails are open and there is plenty of flora and fauna (maybe even a bear) to be enjoyed.
We are a middle aged couple and found a delightful English-speaking Japanese guide, Mr Hide Iwamoto, who was mindful of our physical limitations and yet managed to guide us through a lovely walk beginning at the Nature Center.
The walk did not disappoint: in addition to spotting Sika deer, woodpeckers, chipmunks, sealions and thankfully, plentiful bear prints; Mr Iwamoto gave us information on the delicate ecosystems in play at the park.
He provides boots and binoculars to be used on the walk as part of his service.
He is easily booked online from the official Shiretoko website, and comes highly recommended!!
