Glaciar Exploradores的点评
点评：I was travelling solo but a young couple joined me on this adventure. Our Guide for the day was Andres from 99% Aventura. The pick-up was at 6am from their kiosk in Puerto Rio Tranquilo. The transfer to the entrance of the park was about 1 1/2 hours through the Valle de Exploradores. The trek to the glaciar was first through a wooded area then an extensive heavy moraine region which included an area with large boulders to traverse and and area with smaller rocks and gravel before reaching the 'dirty glaciar' which had small rocks and gravel on the ice surface. We were then provided with gaiters and grampons to traverse the remainder and to reach the clean glaciar. There was time to wander and enjoy the magnificent scenery and to gaze in awe at the huge crevices on the glaciar's surface. Caution was in order as some of the areas to traverse between crevices were no more than about 80 cms wide. Andres was really helpful in assisting my efforts to avoid plunging into a crevice. There was a cave to enter and enjoy some photo taking and marvel at the color of the ice. The weather was perfect that day with only a few clouds and plenty of sun. After an hour or two of enjoying the experience it was time to return.
In all, the trekking part lasted 8 hours and 45 minutes which Andres mentioned was about 2 hours longer that the quickest time he had experienced. Of course the time depends on the fitness of the slowest member of the group, which in this case was me - not very fit and 77 years of age. I mention this to provide comfort to those elderly explorers who may be thinking about taking this trek but have concerns about their ability to do so. At the end of the trek I was truly exhausted but happy to have made the decision to 'go for it '. Once in a lifetime opportunity for many.
Andres was not only an excellent guide but a friendly guy, always encouraging and made sure that the pace was appropriate. Highly recommended.
We returned back to our starting point at 6pm so a full 12 hours excursion.
