Another beautiful beach but with friendly stingrays

点评：This is one of the many beautiful beaches that dot the western coastline within the Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park of WA. It is situated between Margaret River and Augusta along Caves Road. Just take the turnoff at Hamelin Bay and you'll be at the beach in just a few minutes.
There is a large carpark area, facilities and Holiday Park at the beach as well. You'll find several km of fine white sandy shoreline to stroll, some good swimming spots, a observation lookout spot accessible by way of a short track and an old jetty ruins which stingrays hang out and feed each day.
These gentle rays are very familiar with human visitors, which you will find quite a few wading into the water while the rays pass by them. Makes for a fun, family-friendly outdoor and wildlife experience seeing the rays up close.
We visited recently, arriving around 9am while there weren't too many other people. This allowed more closer encounters with the rays. As more people arrive, you have to share beach space a bit. Some more zealous types try to touch the rays or chase them down a bit, disturbing them a bit but on the whole, the rays didn't seem to fussed by this while we watched. If you just stand in the shallow water, some will come up and bump into you, sort of check you out a bit before swimming onward. You don't need to follow or chase them at all.
Loved our time at Hamelin Beach and seeing the rays. Would return without a doubt to do this again the next time visiting the Margaret River and Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park area again.
