点评:Interesting if apparently limited trend toward constructing jails that could be manned with limited personnel - originally the jailer and his wife. Efficient, if not perhaps terribly safe for the prisoners (the eventual and rather late addition of a fire escape caused its own problems!) You certainly would not want to be held here - especially since some of the 'holds' could last up to a year. The solitary box was particularly inhumane. Somewhat repetitive cell displays but then, what more really can you show. Department store mannequins either amusing or jarring depending on one's perspective. Bonus to see jailer's quarters and there is a good bit of explanatory signage and the docent cum gift shop operator more than willing to expand on conditions and history of the place. Amazing that this served as the 'the' county jail until so comparatively recently. A bargain and worth your time.
