点评：I am writing regarding our concern for the inhumane treatment of two elephants at the temple in Dondra. Our whole group was shocked about the captivity of these elephants. Their conditions are appalling and one has huge lump on it’s leg and clearly isn’t receiving medical attention. They are tied up on the shortest chain possible all year with no exercise. One elephant had 2 legs chained.
Even one of the taxi drivers from Marissa said the local Sri Lankans are complaining about their conditions and are unable to change anything. He asked her to go back and take photos and post on social media to highlight their plight. He said if tourists complain it is much more likely to create change for these two elephants.
Elephants need movement, if they can't exercise they just stand and move the only part of their body they can, their head up and down. And it effects them deeply psychologically, it's worse then prison.
