Nature, walking trails and lots of deer
Martin Park Nature Center的点评
点评：Martin Park is a protected nature area along W. Memorial Road just west of Mercy Hospital. It is a country oasis in the middle of the city, the grounds consist of mature woodlands, grasslands and creek fed small lake.
The park is open from 5am to 6pm daily and includes 2.5 miles of connecting loop trails, a Visitor Centre which is open from 9am to 6pm (closed on Mondays). There is plenty of parking and no entry fee to enjoy the tranquil and peaceful environs of this surprisingly nice nature park.
I visited around 6.45am recently and walked several of the trails. Some of the trees were beginning to turn, the wind blowing through the tall grasses made the most incredible sound while I lost count of deer sightings on the morning. The deer seem rather comfortable with humans, allowing themselves to be in close proximity as I walked the various trails. That was neat to experience. There are several bird hides as well as a good size viewing deck on the lake for birdwatchers and a playground near the front car park for those with kiddos.
Overall, I was impressed with the Martin Nature Park. This was a great early morning walk and opportunity to spend time in nature before starting off my day in OKC. I would gladly return for another visit in the future.
