The loos and showers are very basic, but functional.
They permit open fires (although the wood is expensive).
You can order takeaway from Faringdon.
Plenty of parking for the plots.
There is a functional pub. The bar staff are friendly and there are a number of friendly locals.
CONS
The campsite tent pitching area is very uneven, too many cars and vans going through it.
There are no set plots, so it's a free for all.
There is no 'quiet hours' so expect people to be partying at 1 or 2am.
The water supply was two taps, both awkward to access. One had a half-full ceramic sink beneath it.
Didn't look into the 'camp shop' or 'site office' as it closed when we got there at 5pm on Saturday.
Boasts access to the Thames, but there is no purpose-built Jetty; you just have to figure out the best place to get in and out.
Lots of morning points for boats around the island, but these look like they were taken by more permanent tenants.
All of this is run by the pub over the road, that have an event hall hosting discos most Saturdays until midnight. Sometimes this means the pub is closed for private events (check before you go!), which means there is no food service. When food is served, it's a very limited affair of poor quality cooked by inexperienced teenagers, but relatively inexpensive.
