A very enjoyable lunch
The Bell on the Common的点评
点评：Four of us decided to go to the Bell as we hadn’t been for many months. I made a booking by email and received a quick and friendly reply from Heather. On arrival we had a warm and friendly greeting and were shown to our table. Drinks orders were taken and the blackboard showing the menu was brought over to us. The menu was quite a bit different to that shown on the website, but there was a good choice for us to choose from, including GF and V options. Plus some dishes were available as regular or smaller portions. There were only two starters; calamari or sweet corn, so we decided to go with the mains. I had belly pork, mash and savoy cabbage. My wife had scampi, our friends had ham, eggs and chips and sea bream, sauté potatoes and savoy cabbage
On arrival the meals were good portions, and with nice hot plates too. We all enjoyed our meals, especially my friend who had sea bream. He can be picky…..but his plate was absolutely cleaned, and he remarked it was the best sea bream he had eaten for a long time. He eats out a lot too. During the meal we were asked if we wanted drink refills. There were four cold puddings and a selection of ice creams or sorbet. All were nice with quite large servings of the ice creams. We finished with coffee.
On one table in the dining area a chap had ordered a ploughman’s and my wife commented on the generous portion. He then asked for an extra plate to help deconstruct the meal, so he could better eat it all.
On leaving and by the car we all remarked that the new owners have been successful at once again providing good quality, home cooked pub food at a reasonable price compared to what many other local area venues are offering.
We plan to return again and try the Sunday lunch.

离开时，在车旁，我们都说，新老板再次成功地以合理的价格提供了优质的家常酒吧食物，相比当地许多其他餐厅，价格更合理。
我们打算再来试试周日午餐。
