The most disappointing pub I have visited in a while.
The pub was presented to be a “gastro pub” on its website but it couldn’t be further away from that, and is more like a greasy cafe pretending to be a pub.
We went for sandwiches or some other more interesting mains that were shown on the pubs website, but the sandwiches were not on the menu and the menu was far more basic and mostly deep fried based around chips. It seems the website has not been updated in years.
There were 3 mains and 3 burgers on the menu, all with chips. All around £15.50. The chips were bog standard cheap chips. The scampi was dry and mostly batter. The mushy peas were disgusting.
The juice was from concentrate that came out of a Tesco carton.
Overall worse quality than a Wetherspoon pub, and far more expensive.
If you are going out to eat and drink and paying a premium you expect to have something above the bog standard a child could make.
The pub itself has so much potential but somehow it feels like it had lost its character, commercial radio/tv station playing, big flat screen tv, the pub smells very greasy when you walk in, the menu’s were poorly printed, showing the lack of attention to the overall experience.
Sadly I can’t see this pub surviving when there are significantly better pub experiences near by.
