Superb museum. A real gem.
Salford Museum & Art Gallery的点评
点评：This is a fantastic place. Right by the university. My friends and I had been to the quays to visit the IWM and one of our party grew up in Salford and attended the Uni. He wanted to show us Peel park and the museum is just by the there. So we popped in and the Victorian street is just superb. I had my fortune told on an old machine, that was fun. The other shops were great to look at. Upstairs in the galleries, I was deeply moved by many of the paintings. The Victorian gallery is as good as any I have been in before. The set up and ambience are excellent. The other galleries are also interesting, particularly the current Riley exhibition. This is all free so I always make an effort to buy something. The shop is full of interesting books about Salford and i is was also offered a free Lowry print by the lovely girl who served me at reception, which was nice! We were also able to get parked outside but just make sure you have PayByPhone on your phone as there is no machine. Also, be careful on your way in from the main road as there is a bus lane on the dual carriageway that ends just before the entrance and starts again shortly thereafter. If you don’t know where you’re going and tend to get flustered like me, it can be a bit stressful as this road is one of the busy roads leading into Manchester.
