点评：I would just like to say what an amazingly flight of locks. I transited these locks last Saturday on my mates canal boat and I turned over all 16 locks by myself (so what I hear you say!) anyway today we retuned to the 16 locks to come back up the flight, only this time we arrived in good time and the amazing volunteers were their to help. Great friendly team, Tim & Dave, lovely chat and great knowledge. Without their help this is definitely a bit of a challenge, so thank you guys. My mate on his boat just chugged along from lock to lock and all the hard work I experienced coming down the 16 flight of locks last week made me appreciate the locks, their engineering and beauty and of course it’s a lot easier with help. Toward lock 10 (ish) we were joined by a lovely lady and again the help and support was wonderful. So again Marple lock volunteer team I say a big thank you. You made my life and back so happy to day, rain or shine!
There were a few sticky moments with bits and pieces and the usual maintenance issues but I appreciate that this is a big flight of locks with a lot of working parts so I emphasise. They are over 200 years old - 208 feet of elevation so give a bit of understanding. The volunteers are such a valuable asset and I for one really appreciate their worth, enthusiasm and dedication. 😊👍
