Better than expected!
Tropical World的点评
点评：Felt like I had to write a review to counterbalance the recent very negative reviews, as our experience was a much more positive one. We were booked to see Santa at the Mansion House nearby this weekend so decided to pop into Tropical World which is only 5 minutes’ walk away and our 8 year old loves nature. I didn’t have high hopes after reading some of these reviews - but we were really pleasantly surprised!
There was more to see than we had expected, and also I can recollect only one empty tank in the whole place (some creatures are more tricky to see but that’s just the nature of some small animals - spend time looking carefully and you’ll spot them). Tanks were not “grimy and dirty” as described - maybe a little scratched on the glass but still very easy to see inside, so not quite sure what people are on about.
It hit the mark perfectly for my little boy who is into birds, bugs, frogs, fish and reptiles - he was excited by what he saw.
I will say that (as other have said) the butterfly house is not what it once was years ago - we struggled to spot many butterflies at all on our first circuit, although we returned at the end and managed to see quite a few more. Don’t expect it to be flocking with butterflies though like (for example) the butterfly house at Chester Zoo. The 8 year old was excited by the birds in that area though.
It’s not a huge facility so it’s a 90 minute visit rather than a day out. The cafe looked decent and spacious - we only had time to grab a drink and bag of crisps. Toilets clean, with a separate baby change cubicle, and staff friendly.
We parked for free on the on-street parking a couple of minutes’ away. Not bad for a Saturday in mid-December! There was also lots of room in the nearby paying car park too.

我要说的是（正如其他人所说），蝴蝶馆已经不如几年前那么热闹了——我们第一次参观时几乎没看到什么蝴蝶，不过最后我们又回去看了一遍，看到了不少。别指望这里会像切斯特动物园的蝴蝶馆那样蝴蝶成群。我家8岁的孩子倒是很喜欢那里的鸟类。
蝴蝶馆规模不大，所以90分钟就能逛完，不算是一整天的行程。咖啡馆看起来不错，也很宽敞——我们只来得及买了杯饮料和一包薯片。洗手间很干净，还有独立的婴儿换尿布间，工作人员也很友好。
我们把车停在了几分钟路程外的路边，免费。对于12月中旬的周六来说，这还不错！附近的收费停车场也有很多空位。
