Superb food and portions,wonderful waitress...shame the music was unbelievably loud!

点评：First time at this Carshalton pub! We went on a Saturday night with the band Phoenix Rising playing live music. Luckily we arrived an hour before the band started playing and ordered food and drinks and got chatting. The food portions were big and the food was yummy and very well priced. The food and drinks were served quickly, by an initially very friendly and attentive waitress. The music started and it was way too loud for the small space. The sound was very muffled and all we had was just alot of loud noise, which in my opinion spoilt what would have otherwise been a good night out. After a bit more than an hour we all had headaches and we decided to leave as we couldn't hear each other and what made our exit faster is that even before finishing our main course and ordering dessert we were being given our bills(we didn't ask for the bill as we were in the middle of eating)and being asked to pay as the kitchen was closing. It left us all gobsmacked!
So it all got weird in the end, by what started out as an evening of good food, good company and what was hoped for...good live music. Sadly I won't be returning, which is a shame because unlike many pubs that serve overpriced bland food with small portions, this pub actually served tasty big portions, but the people running the pub clearly have not considered that when people come out they do so for a good experience. And not to be shuttled out quickly cause the kitchen is closing and be left a bit deaf in the process! As much as I wold have liked, I could not muster more than 3 stars and this was for the food and initial friendliness of the waitress that bizarrely all went badly wrong towards the end!
