点评:My elderly mum wanted to visit the Major Oak as she hadn’t been for a long time. There were very handy disabled spaces outside the visitors centre but you have to pay a flat rate to park of £6 which is ok if you wanted to stay all day but not so much for a shorter visit.
We had a very warm welcome from the lady outside the visitors centre who advised us on the best route and gave us some other useful information.
There are toilets and a cafe in the visitors centre on the lower floor with a large lift.
The walk to the Major Oak was awful for those in a wheelchair. The ground is uneven and stony and my poor mum was jolted about and was extremely uncomfortable. It was also very hard for me to push her given the rough terrain. I appreciate it’s not appropriate to have a tarmaced path in the forest but maybe consider some kind of matting (eco friendly fibre?) even if it’s just along the path to the Major Oak. It would make the site much more accessible.
In the end mum was so uncomfortable that we had to turn back.
