Galena and U.S. Grant History Museum的点评
点评：This museum focuses on the town's history (which is mainly mining, and the river); and Civil War (including relics); and Ulysses S Grant, who lived there. --- it is 3 stories tall, and you have to use stairs. --- If you love to read plaques and love history, this is the place for you. Other people will just stroll thru the place gazing at objects and occasionally reading a sign. -- Grant's history is fascinating; many big ups and downs. --- it is located 1 block off of (beautiful, historic) Main St up some very steep stairs, but look for a spot on Bench St. too. -- It has a couple of new exhibits which are mostly for locals, such as the history of how the museum got started. A very nice gift shop with books, post cards, and such. --- They start off with a very good talk in the "sitting room" and then you buy your tickets. The staff person is very informed; ask your questions.
