点评:This summer we've been visiting the city of Drobeta Turnu Severin - and after the lunch we decided to visit the "Water Castle".
An fairly modern - built in 1910 - architectural piece , one of the first buildings in Europe that was built in steel and concrete - one of the tallest buildings in the city - towering about 30+ meters high.
Nowadays , after it was restored it is one of the landmarks of the city - now for sure it looks much better in the evening with the lighting , however it was excellent during the day, too.
Entrance is 10Ron/adult - so not expensive at all, and you get 2 choices - either climb the stairs to the last level ... or, there is an elevator, and because it was fairly hot in June we've decided to get the elevator to the last floor and get the stairs to reach the ground floor again.
At the last level - you can get out in the small balconies and take some pics of the surroundings, some very nice views.
The next floor is dedicated to the island of Ada Kaleh, today is under meters of water ,the island was situated between Orsova and Turnu Severin and got flooded in 1970 when the dam of Iron Gates I hydropower plant was filled. Very interesting photo expo , giving you an insight of the past times ( very nice touch with the pictures in the jars of water )
On more floor down - expo from the past decades of the Romanian film industry ... also very interesting.
Overall a definite landmark of the city, definitely worth your time and I recommend when you are in Turnu Severin pay a visit to the Water Castle.
