Napi Wilderness Trail的点评
点评：The Napi Trail is real 5-star experience.
In internet parlance a 5-star review typically means that there was nothing to complain about. A 'real' 5-star experience, however, is one where you receive everything you hoped for - and a lot more too. This trail experience was the latter.
Our guides (Mattwell and Saul - hope the spellings are correct) are masters of their trade. Saul can probably spot an individual ant somewhere on a mountain on the horizon. Mattwell's vast sets of bush-knowledge and his gentle but deep sense of humour are at equally elevated levels. Additionally, our chef (Douglas) super-charges his bush kitchen to impossible heights. The experience simply could not have been better.
One has to remember that this is a bush trail. There are dangerous animals out there. You are on foot, and you are exposed. The guides are there to ensure that you not only enjoy the walking and the sightings, but that you also survive the adventure to tell tales such as I am doing here now.
I'll mention two notable episodes.
We encountered an angry startled buffalo; probably one of the most dangerous possible bush encounters. The fact that I am here and able to write this review is as a result of Saul and Mattwell's superior bushcraft.
At another time, we approached a rocky outcrop at the same time a lion decided to enjoy that space too. Saul motioned to us to stay in place. He then stepped a metre or two forward and calmly (neither aggressively nor submissively) 'negotiated' with the lion through posture alone. The lion eventually decided to move elsewhere and allowed us to use the space for a sundowner picnic.
Highly, highly, highly recommended this is.
