A Superb boating experience for a group of friends

点评：My wife and I booked two consecutive days on Joshua for a group of friends in July 2025. It was an outstanding trip on the Caldon Canal - a great boat and stunning countryside. We are experienced boaters and know what we want: friendly customer service, comfort on the boat and an interesting route: we got all of that on Joshua. Tracey and Steve, the boat owners, took a great deal of care to make sure we had a good time – thank you!
Joshua is a beautifully equipped trip boat, with a galley kitchen, a large area in the bow for our group to sit in and – of course - a toilet. Steve built the boat and had taken a lot of care in thinking through the design, which meant that Joshua was perfect for the needs of a small group like ours.
Tracey was excellent at communicating from the moment we emailed her about our booking through to us handing Joshua back at the end of our booking. She briefed us comprehensively about Joshua, the canal, helming and how to make the most of each day. and responded patiently to our many questions.
The canal itself has lots to see – locks, bridges, the Froghall tunnel, even a steam railway – as well as relics of the pottery industry, like the old flint mill at Cheddleton. We took the boat to the end of the Leek branch and walked up into the town for lunch on one of our days. Tracey had recommended the restaurant – another nice touch.
