点评:My trip to Ballymaloe for Farm to Fork was a treat for my 40th birthday and I left feeling disappointed and short changed. While the school, shop and grounds are really impressive, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
1. 60 people on a cooking course was far too many. There wasn’t time to interact or learn from the chefs properly.
2. 1.5 days of a 2.5 day course was taken up with demos. I found this to be dull and rushed. More kitchen time would be interesting and productive. There was also no indication that so much time would be in demos. Not good enough.
3. Accommodation is basic but adequate. Advance warning on no toiletries being provided would be helpful for guests.
4. Farm to Fork is sold as a course to learn about growing food. apart from a whistle stop tour of the gardens, there was nothing about growing or cultivating food.
5. I couldn’t help but get the sense that as a business, they’ve sold out to get as many people through as possible which helps top-line revenue but undoubtedly impacts customer experience.
6. I provided feedback post the course but did not get a response. Not good enough.
On a positive note - Shout out to Jane in Bread Shed and Franceso in the Kitchen… both so helpful and fab!
