6 Beaches, Several Lookout Points & Dolphins & Whales (if you’re lucky)
Bathers Way Coastal Walk的点评
点评：Bathers Way is a 6km long coastal walking trail that runs between Merewether Ocean Baths and Nobbys Beach. You can start at either end but it’s not a looped trail so if like us, you have a car, you’ll need to re-trace your steps to get back to your starting point.
We only did a section of the walk but it really is stunning. It covers 6 beaches (Nobbys, Newcastle Beach, Susan Gilmore Beach, Bar Beach, Dixon Park Beach, and Merewether) and has sweeping views of the pacific Ocean and the dramatic coastline.
There are parks and several lookout points along the way and we were told that people often see whales and dolphins while walking, although we were not that lucky.
Bathers Way also connects up with the very lovely Memorial Walking Trail. Built in 1915, this section of the walk is along an elevated bridge-like path and commemorates the ANZAC soldiers who served in WWI.
The path itself varies and whilst there are no really difficult parts, there are several sections with stairs. There are also some diversions at the moment around Newcastle Beach where they are carrying out construction work to improve the trail. Because of this, we skipped this part and only did the sections between the Strzelecki Lookout and Dixon Park Beach. Whilst we missed out on a significant part of the trail, we plan to return another time when work has finished.
A nice place to stop for a coffee is at Swell, a casual beachside cafe which overlooks Bar Beach.
