Beautiful meal, lovely ambience, outstanding barman!
The Church Bar的点评
点评：We walked in without a booking, which was fine as it seems both the bar (tables outside) and the restaurant (inside the main church building) were not busy tonight. Lovely atmosphere inside this beautiful old former church. Even though people at other tables weren’t particularly quiet, the carpet on the floor and the high ceiling mean you could still hear the music but the general noise was not overwhelming and we could comfortably converse.
Our main server was Ayden. We were both struck by his friendly and cheerful demeanour. He brought our drinks out promptly and was very welcoming.
Plenty to choose from on a menu to please all palates. Our food came out really quickly within 10 minutes of ordering (it felt like). My partner ordered the lamb back strap and I had the seafood marinara tagliatelle. I didn’t get a chance to photograph the nicely presented lamb before my partner tucked in. It was perfectly cooked medium rare. I’m told it was deliciously tender and the accompanying vegetables were a great complement. As for me, I’ve had a few pasta marinaras in my time but this was far and away the best. Lovely presentation and the flavour was fantastic, really tasty. The seafood was high quality and plentiful: prawns, mussels in their shells, fish, squid. The sauce brought it all together and was delicious, with a sprinkling of freshly grated Parmesan and topped with sprouts. Meals 10/10. If we lived closer, we’d certainly come back.
If I have one suggestion, it would be to have small lamps on the outermost tables to counter the very low lighting which was ok to dine by but made reading the menu difficult (I used the torch function on my phone). You can get little touch lamps suitable for small tables. :)
