A disappointing day - rip off prices and no free parking for NT members

点评：I have been visiting Wakehurst since 1980. I visited again yesterday with my adult daughter and as soon as we got there the previously welcoming feel had gone. There were barriers to the car park and scanning my National Trust card didn’t work. An attendant came over and told me that only Wakehurst membership cards worked and he gave me a payment ticket.
At the entry desk I knew my joint membership didn’t cover my daughter who had to pay an extortionate £18.50 to get in. We were told it covered the parking fee and they took my parking payment ticket. At that point I still thought my NT membership would have covered parking anyway but I was wrong!
We went to the cafe and were charged £14 for 2 small cups of tea (not pots) and 2 very small pastries. Very little choice and tables were dirty and hadn’t been cleared. I was feeling ripped off before we even got into the grounds. At this time of year there wasn’t much to see but it was a nice country walk.
After walking for a couple of hours we spent another £14 on small drinks and what was left of the uninspiring pastries. By this time it was pouring with rain so we ran to the car and drove to the barrier. There was a message saying we owed £13.50 for parking!! I ran back through the rain to reception and told them. They said National Trust membership does not cover parking, and I mentioned the £18.50 ticket we also bought and she confirmed that did cover parking. I gave the registration number (again) and she said it would now work at the barrier.
This was a thoroughly unfriendly and a rip off experience. We spent nearly £50 on a very basic experience for two, despite my NT membership. I can’t imagine how families afford it. Sorry Wakehurst but after 46 years of visiting we won’t be back.

这次体验真是糟糕透了，服务态度差劲，简直是敲诈。尽管我有国民信托会员卡，我们两个人却花了将近50英镑，体验却非常简陋。我真不敢想象那些家庭是怎么负担得起的。对不起，韦克赫斯特庄园，我们46年来一直来这里，以后不会再来了。
