点评:We visited in May, so perhaps different time of the year the glacier looks more impressive at this location, but it was a pretty modest area - we had a similar experience at the Exit Glacier by Seward, but here I would say this one is even more modest, or at least was at the end of May 2025.
Nevertheless, it is a nice and pleasant walk more than a hike and you literally get to even touch the snow/ice (the water underneath felt even colder) so while on the way to or from Whittier this is a no brainer, especially if you probably will stop at Begich, Boggs Visitor Center (reviewed separately), or perhaps you may be taking the boat next door for the Portage Glacier - all these 3 places are pretty much in the same spot so plan combining them + you can combine it with the driving visit to Whittier.
Free parking, no hiking fees - no facilities here though, a nice paved pathway or at least flat with gravel. The super fast walk (we were warned that there has been a sighting of a moose with her baby in the area earlier that day) took us about 45m round trip with some time at the glacier as well. but plan around 1h or more for the whole thing.
