点评:Visiting this museum was the main reason I visited Utrecht and I wasn’t disappointed. I arrived just as one of the musical tours was about to start, and this was a great introduction to the museum, and a brilliant opportunity to see and hear some of the clocks, organs and other artefacts in action. Our guide, Nienke, was fantastic, spoke fluent English and presented the tour in a very engaging way. Instead of just delivering a monologue, she asked questions to make us think about the exhibits, and try to work out the answers, before giving us the full details. She also gave a couple of us the opportunity to grind one of the street organs to play for the rest of the group. This was one of the best things I’ve ever done and I was so happy! Nienke clearly loves her job, and her enthusiasm was contagious!
After the tour (1 hour) I spent around two more hours looking at everything else in the museum. There is a lot! As well as the upstairs, there is a huge area downstairs through ‘the back’. The museum is in an old church, and there is also an exhibition detailing how the building was changed into a museum.
All in all, one of the best museums I’ve ever been to.
