Woodland Dunes Nature Center的点评
点评：I've been going to this wonderful place for decades. It still has that "wild" feeling.
The headquarters building has been modernized and expanded. There is even an EV charging system.
But, you ask...what is there to do? My first instinct is to climb the tower. From there you can view the Butterfly Garden. And the raised wooden trail that takes you into a marshy area to a view of the West Twin River. If you tread softly, you can usually hear and, if you're lucky, see northern yellowthroats.
West of the building is the Goldenrod Trail. An easy, level trail that takes you to Todd's Pond. Continue in a northernly direction to a wooden platform. A great spot to open a bottle of wine and have a picnic. With another nice view of the river.
Don't forget the rest of the area. A brief drive west on 310 and a turn on Woodland Road takes you other trails... Trillium Trail among others.
You can spend most of a day here. If you meet anyone along the trails, they are likely kindred spirits.
