点评:There's loads to see. I have to agree with another visitor, there is complete indifference from front desk staff. You have to work out yourself where to start, so I started on top floor, stories of port life by the sea.
Some great black n white photos and films from 1890s to early 1920s. Accompanying info also shown in English. However, all the audio is in Swedish. Surprising when it's newly renovated.
And stories of how pioneers were induced to emigrate to America. Would have liked a lot more on this.
Many, many models of ships.
2nd floor covers a lot about sustainable fashion, and history of stripes migrating from sailors' clothing to fashion, similarly for dazzle camouflage.
And big section on Trade, Sweden's East India Company, trade to China.
And grear stories about the life of sailors.
Some interesting short films, but disappointingIy, no English subtitles so have to guess what's going on. The exception is John Eriksson & Hans Petersson's 15 month deep sea Expedition on Albatross in late 1940s, a brilliant, subtitled film.
There are some great tales, mostly accompanied with some summary in English.
Disappointing amount of benches to sit on in such a big, interesting museum that's recently renovated.
There's a small enticingly displayed Aquarium in the Basement that the kids will love. Couple of big glass cases for Coral and Kelp.
There's a café on Ground floor. There are lifts if you can find them!
