点评:This was my first time visiting Darien Lake.
Before entering, I asked security if I could bring an empty Yeti bottle because I can’t carry open cups due to my disability. I was told, “Yes, absolutely.” But when it was time to go inside, another security guard said it wasn’t allowed and even suggested I should have hidden it in my scooter. Seriously? Why would staff tell a guest to hide something that’s supposedly not allowed?
I purchased ADA seats, and nowhere on the ticket did it say “obstructed view.” As soon as we sat down, I knew that once people stood, I wouldn’t be able to see a thing. I went to Guest Services to see if I could pay for an upgrade. They sent me to a supervisor, who sent me to the box office. The box office told me I’d have to forfeit my current ticket and pay full price for a new one. Meanwhile, there was a better ADA section sitting empty the entire show, not a single person used it. But I wasn’t allowed to move. With each person I was very polite and wasn’t looking for a free upgrade. I was willing to pay, just not for a whole new ticket. Each person just seemed to dismiss me and send me to the next one. No compassion, no help.
Instead, I spent the whole evening staring at people’s backsides. When I spoke to a security guard about it, I was told, “Too bad.” That’s how this venue treats guests with disabilities. Absolutely unacceptable.
