Thirlmere loop is not a complete loop

点评：Who can fault any area within the Lake District? Thirlmere sits beautifully below Ravens Crag and Hellvellyn and is a quiet and enjoyable walk around the reservoir. We walked clockwise from Dales Head Hotel and all was well but we hit a few issues where the route wasn’t clearly marked. There are steps leading down that are not marked but actually take you to the church, which is the right way to go. Because they were not marked as such, we continued walking straight past them for another 15 mins before realising we could no longer see the reservoir.
After going past the dam, there are a set of steps clearly marked with a blue arrow. We know that this is the right path. However, once at the top of the steps there was nowhere to go. It made no sense and we ended up going back down the steps, out of the caravan park and having to walk a mile along a 60mph road. Dangerous.
Better signage is in order for everyone to enjoy the loop.
