Sad and Frustrating Mary J. Blige Concert

点评：This was the worst concert experience I have had. The concert was supposed to start 7 pm. We waited 1.5 HOURS to get into the venue. Fortunately, the weather was pleasant. We were told it was because the tour company was 1.5 hours late setting up the stage and lights. There was, thankfully, only 1 opening act rather than 2 as advertised. Ne-Yo started at 9:10 pm and sang for an hour. I wasn’t familiar with his music, but Ne-Yo’s performance was very good. Then there was a 45-minute intermission. Mary J. Blige started at 11:02 and from the first minute, you knew something was really off. The sound was TERRIBLE. The lighting was off — at times she was standing in the dark and could not be seen. It was downhill from there, and the fans could tell. Mary J. Blige’s voice lacked its vibrancy, and her movements were sluggish. A few lines into “Not Goin’ Cry,” she started crying. The audience sang most of all of the songs, as though trying to lift her up.
It appeared to me that Mary must be going through something physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It was so disheartening to see this beautiful, strong, brilliant and resilient woman struggling the way she was. I will be praying for her. 🙏🏽
