Don’t pay extra for the farm tour.

点评：We visited for the Harvest Festival. There were some highlights including: bannock, soup & tea sampling, candle making and various games including pumpkin checkers (which was a highlight for us).
Unfortunately, there were some disappointing things too. We paid extra for our son to do a “farm tour” because he really loves animals. The tour was scheduled for 2pm. We got there about 10 min early and waited until 2 rolled around. It was obvious that we were the only ones who had paid for this tour as we were given a sign to wear that said “Harvest Heritage.” The person leading this tour apparently decided that one family wasn’t enough, so he herded a bunch of others for a tour that only we had paid extra for. No one else had a sign, and it was clear they weren’t expecting a tour. My husband was very irritated that we were the only ones that paid extra for this. We are on a tight budget and did not appreciate it. I don’t understand why he would not have just given us a personal experience considering we had paid extra. Why charge extra then if you are just going to round up anyone who’s in earshot? Being stuck amongst 20 others felt stupid, and we couldn’t help but feel ripped off.
I also wish there were more interpretive signs for the buildings- perhaps fun ones for the kids with pictures depicting what life would have looked like back then (for each structure). I have visited a couple of times prior and still don’t feel like I know all that much about the site, besides what I’ve learned from the costumed actors (who all do a very good job). The experiences are varied depending on the theme.
