oTENTik stay was disappointing despite 1000 island beauty
Thousand Islands National Park的点评
点评：We were very excited to visit stay overnight in Thousand Islands National Park at their oTENTik hybrid tent cabins. We booked site MT-D. We were disappointed by several facets of our 2-night stay.
1. Bugs: at the park, there are so many mosquitoes. There are enough gaps in the oTENTik door frame to allow ants and earwigs into the cabin. The visitor center bathrooms and outhouse are inundated with spiders and mosquitoes.
2. Traffic Noise: The Thousand Islands Parkway is very near the oTENTiks. We could hear Highway noise throughout the night. There are also several night trains on a nearby railway.
3. Variation in campsites: the oTENTik sites themselves are very unequal. MT-Awas near the water and in a grassy area. MT-E is perched quite far from the water. MT-D was quite small and heavily wooded. This information is not provided when booking.
4. Bathrooms/water: The bathrooms were not clean, buggy, and frequently out of soap and/or toilet paper. The only potable water spout was near the visitor center bathrooms, which was about 3-5 minute walk from the oTENTik sites. This makes camp life more difficult; most campsites we’ve been to have water stations nearby.
The Thousand Islands are beautiful and well worth a visit. The park seemed a great spot to launch a boat for a river ride, and the Xplorers staff was excellent and great with the kids; they loved earning their Xplorers dog-tag.
