Incredible sightings at one of my trackings, but professionalism regarding silence is questionable

点评：I did the Kibale Chimpanzee tracking twice. As with all wildlife encounters, it requires luck, but guides' professionalism can also play a role.
I chose the afternoon tours based on the advice that guides might have a better idea of the chimps' location from the morning sightings. On the first day, after a long walk, we found a single chimpanzee. Unfortunately, the group of 8 tourists and the guides rushed toward it, talking loudly. I was concerned this would scare the animal away—which is exactly what happened. Not only once, but three times. When I asked the guide if we were being too noisy, he told me I was wrong and that it didn't matter.
This was disappointing because the official registration sign clearly states:
"Please follow these protocols: ... Keep your voice low."
Unfortunately, on both days, neither the guides nor the tourists seemed to care about this rule.
Despite the noise, the end of the first day was spectacular. I saw a mother with a young one and a very old chimp. The encounters were breathtaking, but sadly, my videos are filled with the conversations of the other tourists and guides in the background. My second day in Kibale was less successful; - on the one hand disappointing, on the other hand it let me appreciate those first-day sightings much more.
Comparison to Kalinzu: A few days prior, I tracked chimps in Kalinzu Forest. The experience there seemed to be better managed: groups are limited to 4 people, and the guides asked for silence. It felt more respectful to the animals and MUCH better for photography and video.
If you want great videos at Kibale, be prepared for to the background noise from the chatter of the group and guides unless the guides start enforcing their own rules.
