点评：Idugunji Ganesh is famous to decide Marriages which receiving more than one million devotees per year. Idugunji is a village in Honnavar Taluk of Uttara Kannada District. Idugunji temple is located about 15 km from Honnavar where Sharavati River mix in Arabian Sea . You can travel directly to this temple Via National Highway (NH17) in your own vehicle. Buses, Mini Vans and tempos operate frequently from Honnavar to Idugunji Ganesh temple. This temple is an ancient temple with a history of more than 1500 years.
Interesting Facts about this temple:
1. Lord Ganesh here is also known as Aadi Poojya Deva, The auspicious Lord who is worshipped first.
2. This Deity has two tusks and he does not have a snake around his waist either. This means he was the oldest Ganesh to be consecrated before he wrote Mahabharata.
3. Idugunji is part of temple circuit of Six Ganesha temples along India's Western Coast. The Circuit starts with Kasaragod, Mangalore, Anegudde, Kundapura, Idugunji and Gokarna. Any person visiting with his family all six temples, within one day between sunrise and sunset will receive special blessings.
4. The Ganesha idol is in a standing posture, with extremely short legs, and a depression on the head. Two handed Ganesha is holding Modaka and Padma in his hands.
5. There is Unique Process followed here by localities to decide Marriage Matches. When Families finds the Match then they will come to this temple and put two Small Paper chits at Ganesh ji Foots one at Right Foot and one at Left Foot. If the Paper slip at Right leg falls down first then it is considered to be Gods acceptance or if paper slip at Left leg falls down first then they rejects the match and will search another matches.
