Rothesay - still definitely worth a visit !

点评：Visited Rothesay with my wife for the first time last week (a day trip), so our first port of call was the Tourist Information Office with a few questions - only to find out that it is a tourist attraction in its own right - a Victorian relic to match the nearby toilets - and all within 200 yards of the ferry terminal !! As well as giving valuable information, recommendations, and directions - it has historical information and photos, gifts, and a cinema !!! All very different and equally useful - but the highlight for me were the staff. We spoke to Andrew, Aileen and Irene - and they were all equally knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly - answering all of our questions and making other suggestions to help us to maximise what we got out of our visit - where to visit, how to get there, where to eat - all of which we put to good use. Our highlights were Mount Stuart, Rothesay Castle, and the Victorian buildings in Rothesay. We were very surprised and disappointed to hear that Andrew, Aileen and Irene will all be looking for new jobs by Autumn, when the Tourist Board close all of their 'bricks and mortar' visitor centres and switch to online - obviously good for them, but not great for pensioners like us, who like to speak to a 'real' person. I worked most of my life in retail and in various senior management positions, and I can genuinely say that I would have been happy to have Andrew, Aileen or Irene working with me in any of my roles, and wish each of them Good Luck with finding a new role. Hopefully we'll be back to Rothesay while they'll still be there, and can get an update on their job prospects.
