点评:My experience was a 'disabled person plus carer' type of ticket. The large-scale playground allows adults to play, which is a rare but important chance for some gentle adults who grew up in size but still need to play. It was the highlight of the week for the person pictured.
The history exhibits include interactive elements that engage the senses e.g. playing an army drum, dialing an old rotary phone, 'defusing' an unexploded bomb.
Walking around the site, through tunnel corridors and up to gun emplacements was fun, outdoorsy and spacious. You'll need a hoody in October though!
There are few social demands around the site. You're free to explore at your own pace and on your own route. If any indoor space is busy or noisy, it's easy to go back outside to the open space and come back when you're ready.
We took our own packed lunch and ate outdoors on the picnic benches.
The outdoor spaces are best on a dry day, but there are lots of indoor exhibits to dodge any showers.
Good toilets.
The history seemed to be presented in a responsible and balanced way.
