点评:If you've never been to Clarksdale, MS, Reds is walkable from "downtown" but is the farthest away compared to other local clubs/joints, and you basically go to Ground Zero, cross the railroad tracks and keep walking 2 blocks. Call me crazy, but it was super dark and fairly deserted on the walk there after dinner, so I was a little nervous. I had read reviews that said it is the best blues joint in the world, and others that said it was filthy, and I did not know what to expect, but knew it was a 'must do' for my husband and me on our Blues & BBQ trip.
Well, all my worry was for nothing! This place is great - basically a big square room with a bar along one side as you walk in. I did not feel it was dirty/chaotic - lighting was good, sound was good, people were friendly, and music was great. I did not use the bathroom, so cannot comment on that. We met a cool couple, saw many other people who we'd seen around town, and loved listening to Robert Kimbrough Sr. and watching some dancing that happened in the tiny space between the bar and the band.
We weren't expecting cover to be $15 but I think that was because it was the weekend of King Biscuit Blues Fest. Beers are $5. We paid cash for everything. Music starts at 8, and we got there a little before, scoring a nice table.
