Overwhelmed by Heat and Crowds at Akshardham

点评：July 5, 2025 – 2nd day in Delhi
Our tour guide brought us to Akshardham, a grand Hindu spiritual and cultural complex known for its stunning architecture and peaceful atmosphere. I had heard so much about it and was glad to finally see it in person.
We left all our belongings, including phones, cameras, and bags, in the car, as absolutely no electronics are allowed inside. The rules are very strict, and there are multiple security checks. While I understand the need for security, the staff at the entry checkpoints came across as quite rude. The pat downs felt unnecessarily rough, which made the start of our visit a bit uncomfortable.
The structures themselves are breathtaking. The intricate carvings, massive domes, and the scale of the complex are truly impressive. It’s clear that an incredible amount of work and devotion went into creating this space. But it was extremely crowded, and the overwhelming number of people made it hard to enjoy the beauty. At times it felt almost suffocating, especially under the intense afternoon heat.
My five and seven year old were just not able to take much from the experience. Even though I pointed out the beautiful details and architecture, they were too hot and tired to engage. We had looked forward to exploring the grounds more, but between the crowd and the heat, we had to cut it short.
There are definitely peaceful corners here, fountains, gardens, and shaded walkways, but overall, the experience felt more hectic than calming. I can see how it could be meaningful on a cooler, quieter day, but for us, it was a bit too much.
