点评：We took the no.19 bus up to the Castello from Salerno railway station as suggested by other reviewers. The few minutes walk uphill from the bus stop was fine and gave over to a terrace ( lower) with views over Salerno and the port. So far so good. We then took the lift up to the upper terrace and that’s when things started to go wrong. We were greeted by a woman who demanded 6 euro each even before we had set foot anywhere near the Museum. Apparently their policy has changed and they now charge you the euro just to be on the upper terrace regardless of whether or not you want to go into the Museum. I was trying to take a photo while my husband was in line waiting to pay for our tickets and she stood in front of me to stop me doing so. The experience got worse. There are only some English signs in the Museum to help you. There are no signs in English around the Castello. There is no handout or guide or anything. There were 3 or 4 people hanging around outside the museum who seemed to be on staff but if they were guides they certainly didn’t say so. The cafe is non existent but what makes it worse is they have a vending machine for drinks and snacks which can only be accessed by an app on your phone. The issue is that there is no coverage at the Castello so no way you can even buy a bottle of water. Having paid our 6 euro each we stumbled around not knowing what we were seeing and after half an hour we had had enough. We left and walked down to catch the next bus. If you want to go to see the views over Salerno then the bus trip is fine but stay on the lower terrace and save your 6 euro. Frankly there are better views along the Amalfi coast!
