The past to the present - from Concorde to a Lego McLaren!

点评：The setting of the Brooklands Museum gives a truly authentic feel - from original repurposed work sheds and buildings to the sweeping banked curve of the old race track - it felt like a step back in time. This made the history feel more alive and real.
We had a warm greeting and welcome immediately we crossed the bridge. The ticket staff were friendly and helpful. Every shed or hangar we went into had staff and mostly volunteers who were informative and happy to share knowledge if you wanted it.
The Stratosphere Chamber was fascinating and we appreciated and understood it much more after a chat with the staff member/volunteer who explained how it had worked.
The Concorde Experience was great. By the end of the final video I felt quite emotional - it took me back to being a child and reading about the test flights, then seeing it go into commercial use and following its career up until 2003. The experience is a fitting epitaph for this beautiful and impressive feat of human engineering.
We had a hot lunch in the cafe which we enjoyed. And later tea and cake. It was all tasty and the cafe staff were smiley and helpful. I particularly enjoyed the light jazz music in the background that evoked another era.
Note that the London Bus Museum is located within Brooklands site and can also be enjoyed. This part seemed particularly popular with families and younger children!
We went on a Sunday and it seemed surprisingly quiet.
Overall it was a lovely day out and I would recommend for anyone, young or old, with even just a passing interest in transport history.
