One of the best Thracian sites in Bulgaria, it is an extensive archaeological complex with remains dating as long ago as the 4th millenium BC/BCE. Since the first excavations began on this site in 2000, archaeologists have also discovered a huge palace and a large fortress from the Roman period, as well as a church pulpit most likely from the end of the 4th century AD/CE.
Perperikon offers you the opportunity to enjoy not just magnificent archaeological remains, but also incredible views of the surrounding countryside. At a standard ticket cost of 14 levs, which equals around €7.2, Perperikon ranks as one of the more expensive Bulgarian heritage sites. However, it's definitely worth visiting, as long as you feel capable of managing the steep hillsides.
