点评:To start on a positive note, we attended for the whole of the F1 weekend and saw a great Grand Prix race. The circuit is in a bowl and affords good visibility from many points. Quite a few of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
However, the food is shocking. Since so many people attended much of the food is precooked and left in large piles awaiting customers. Presumably this is the only way to keep up with demand. But it results in food tepid or cold. I spent £30 on a stone cold burger, chips and coke. You wouldn’t pay that at Lords! And the food safety is dubious.
Toilet provision was okay on the first few days, but on race day we were by the Grandstands. A bonkers one way system was in place, so to go away from our seats to the main block meant a 30 minute detour. Therefore like many others we queued for nearly an hour for the scant few toilets behind the stand.
Finally, predictably, leaving is a nightmare. Even on Friday the queue for the buses must have been approaching a mile and well over 90 minutes. Saturday also saw long lines. But Sunday was in a league of its own. We wanted to reach gate 8, but far more people were coming towards us to get to gate 3, the main entrance. A third stream was trying to get on the track. Scary chaos ensued, with not a steward in sight. It would be quite possible a disaster could occur if anyone fell.
I should say getting to the circuit was easy, if rather hot and tiring. Metro M2 to Ors Vezer, then suburban train to Kerepes. From here shuttle buses run to Gate 3. It takes about 90 minutes from the centre of Budapest. Be patient as it is quite well marshalled.
To state the obvious, hat, water and sun cream are essential as it’s very hot and there is little shelter.
