点评:I went there by bus from the centrum, knowing that there will be a stop called Kumu. Then I walked along the bridge that crossed over the noisy highway. On the bridge, there were a door, looking like a subway door, and stairs down, and a quiet passage that lead to a magnificent yard.
There was much to see inside. And not too many videos.
I truly loved all the permanent exhibition floors and rooms, that helped to get acquainted with Estonian art history somewhere from the 1700s onwards and with the many layers of cultural influences and originalities, but especially great was the temporary Mei sisters exhibition.
The sisters, particularly Natalie (1900-1975), used several different art techiques and contributed to the overall intellectual life, sometimes using male pseudonyms. There seems to be published a dissertation on her art by Kai Stahl in 2023 (art history).
The upmost gallery of Kumu offered some art pieces by an Indigenous Sámi artist Outi Pieski.
All in all, Kumu made a really good first impression with its modernity, good services, and up to date curatorial choices.
