An architectural and artefactual delight
Musee de Prehistoire d'Ile-De-France的点评
点评：I'd long wanted to visit this museum, and it didn't fail to impress. It's excellently curated and contains artefacts from the great Paris Basin Palaeolithic hunting-camp excavations such as Étiolles and Pincevent, as well as rather ingenious 'moulages', or direct copies, of the hearths and flint-working areas that were discovered there. The design of the building itself, by Roland Simonet, a disciple of Le Corbusier, is set in an area of woodland and is an outstanding means of displaying technological know-how and artefacts from the Palaeolithic to the Iron Age periods, with plenty of natural light flowing into the galleries and views of the the surrounding greenery (depending on the season!) beyond its walls of glass, bringing the feel of a prehistoric landscape inside. I imagine some visitors might think it too dry. Events are held to engage with schools and families, as well temporary exhibtions, but it's also important to have a place where those who take a special interest in the 600,000 years of prehistory of the Île-de-France can indulge it in a serious way. Its good there are still museums that encourage contemplation and only use technology as an understated, but positive enhancement. There were no refreshments of any type on site. The museum is closed for lunch and on the edge of a Zone Industrielle, so prepare accordingly.
