点评：The beautiful city of Porto, also known as Oporto, has a history stretching back over 2,000 years, which includes heritage sites from the Roman, medieval and early modern periods. Dom Luis I bridge may be one of the newer heritage sites, having been completed less than 150 years ago in 1886, but it definitely stands out. At the time of its construction, it was the longest arch bridge in the world, and although it has since been surpassed many times, it is still famed for the magnificent views that it offers of the city of Porto and of the neighbouring Villa Nova de Gaia.
The upper level of the bridge is currently used by pedestrians and the Porto Metro and it gives you excellent vantage points from which to take photos of the nearby Serra do Pillar monastery, the city's historic medieval centre, the Guindais funicular, and the beautiful riverside. The lower level is primarily used by cars and cyclists, though pedestrians can also access it. Along with the monastery and the historic city centre, the bridge is part of the Porto UNESCO Heritage Site. If you ever visit Porto, you should set aside perhaps an hour or so to enjoy the wondrous vistas offered by this elegant bridge!
