点评：I had been looking forward to my Amazon tour and was so excited. 4 days 3 nights Yasunin Yaku Warmi, Cocaya River on the Peru borderAbout as far into the Ecuadorian jungle as you can go. $800 for tour, not including transport to Coca, $300, hotel in Coca, tips...... plus $40 to spend a day with guide before tour, you will see that included lunch. I was told when I met him I was buying lunch. That "day" with my guide was maybe 3 hours, I paid for lunch. Taxi to an ethnobotanical center called Nucanchi Sacha Causay, of course a "tip" there for guide and myself, and then a taxi back to hotel, about $90 I was surprised his English was pretty good, that too changed, seemed like he forgot the English he knew by the hour.
Left the next morning for Yaku Warmi. Most of the day on boats. Was not welcome upon arrival. I was 1 person and not worth their time.
Spaghetti with meat sauce for dinner, not what I expected to be eating in the Amazon Jungle, and it never was.
Many things I was supposed to do didn't happen. See "schedule" in pictures.
Day 2 NO painting the face, Tonight walk, and NO learning about Kichwa culture.
Day 3 NO learning abut medicinal plants and NO piranha fishing. We went to see parrots getting salt from trees? because I can find no info on that anyplace, that was cut short due to color of my shirt. NO fishing for piranha. I was looking forward to that. Fish is what the people in the area eat, I had no fish at all, well I had a traditional meal waiting for the slow canoe in the restaurant in Nuevo Rocafuerte.
Day 4 NO lagoon. There was a military exercise, new flags being raised at the Peru/ Ecuador border. That's what we did, of course I had no clue what was going on. One the fast canoe back my guide sat on the other side of the boat and said nothing to me.
My guide made sure I knew that usually there were at least 5 people and how much he made in tips. He was poor and wasn't making any money with just me. I over tipped out of guilt and am now angry with myself for that one.
I was unwelcome and unwanted, ignored by the people there. My guide forgot what we were supposed to do, instead doing as he pleased. I was left alone in a store in Nuevo Rocafuerte, he had asked if he could get beer, what could I say? He then disappeared for awhile. I wonder what?
To add insult to injury another guide service saw my post on a Facebook page and sent a message in screenshot, they had a similar problem with the same guide and don't use him anymore.
As you can also see in pictures, Akangau also made sure I know how much the trip cost them and that they also made no money from me.
Orlando Shiguange #304 licensed guide is an independent guide.
IMHO Akangau should have just told me a solo trip wasn't possible. I picked the wrong tour. They definitely picked the wrong guide. I lost.
