Not allowed to enter, even though both practicing Hindus and appropriately attired and initiated into the tradition.

点评：Wife and I travelled from abroad on pilgrimage to visit the 108 sacred Vishnu sites, and we had been most welcome in all temples by the priests and were relishing our experience (it was a big event in our lives as we head into retirement age) .
We left early from Chennai for Tiruvallur and arrived at the temple with excitement and expectation. We were both appropriately dressed in very traditional attire, veshti / saree and namam (wife is Indian and I’m OCI), we are both officially initiated into the tradition and practicing for over 30 years.
As we were about to enter near the Gopuram, where I was stopped by temple authorities and denied entry, (no foreigners or westerners allowed) they said my wife could go in but I couldn’t.
I said to my wife you go in as we are “one”, if you have Darshana we both see. She refused to go in, our tour driver tried to reason with them, we showed citizenship paperwork, initiation marks on our body, photos of our guru etc but no luck.
A phone call by our tour operator revealed that the temple priests had no problem with us, but it was temple administrators who had this policy.
We left as not wanting to create any unrest, but very very dejected. It was a very quiet trip back to Chennai.
Fortunately we visited the famous Parthasarthy temple immediately after and had the most wonderful Darshana in a very inviting, embracing and comforting atmosphere.
