点评:Great tour and worth your time! Steve and his assistant Frank were our guides. Steve’s experience working in this mine in the 1970s and subsequently with bridge borings brought the tour to life.
First, we were equipped with a tag number, safety vest, hard hat and light. Note: CLOSED TOE SHOES ARE REQUIRED.
After a safety briefing, we loaded onto the trolley that took us into the mine. This is the same cars and track used by the miners in the 1970s. There is a stop at 150 ft, to verify everyone is ok and wants to continue. Next stop is an area where copper has been mined. There are 36 stairs to climb into the area. Steve explained the process and answered questions throughout the tour, adding bits of real experiences and some humor.
Highly recommend this tour!
Bonus! The gift shop had geodes on sale. Doug from the gift shop said they had the equipment to break the geode on-site… after selecting a lightweight geode, Doug helped with the equipment and I broke open a geode to reveal a gorgeous interior. Both of the gift shop workers, Doug and Michelle were very helpful and kind. There are numerous different types of minerals and semi-precious stones available in the gift shop.
