点评:We come to flora farms field kitchen every time we come to Cabo. It usually one of the highlights of our trip. Not this time. The farm is just as beautiful and charming as ever. The drinks are delicious.
But the food is not what it once was. I was amazed at the end of our main to look around the table and see that not one of us had finished their mains. And the mains are not big . The Cesar salad was fine but really not that interesting. The ricotta corn canelloni was over powered by one ingredient - I ate half. The pizza was actually soggy. Not sure why. The better item was the pesto pasta but even that went partially consumed. The meatballs were ok. A bit dry. Two went uneaten.
The best thing by far was a carrot soup that was served as a complimentary item on a small shot glass. It was amazing. I asked if I could have a bowl of that. The answer was no. Why not? I asked about the truffle pasta they had last time. Not available because it’s seasonal I was told. But then I saw it on the acre menu.
The service was very professional but a bit stuffy for the surroundings. Waiter in white jackets? I don’t know. That part not a big deal but perhaps another indication of how they seem to be losing their way. Desserts the flan was delicious. Highly recommend. The chocolate cake was very dry. The icing was good. My daughter snuck off and got a cupcake from the cupcake store and brought it back to the table. That was fantastic.
So all in all, next time we are in Cabo we will try acre instead.
It’s too bad. Maybe it was just an off night. Perhaps patrick and Gloria stepping back has caught up woth the business. These types of owner transitions are brutal for restaurants.
