Nice place for a leisurely stroll and cafe, or for running, but unremarkable

点评：A country park focused on Astbury Mere, with a mile walk around the mere that is mostly on a good quality woodland trail and also a couple of large grass areas good for children and dogs to play. There is a cheap car park that has plenty of space except on a Saturday morning when parkrun takes place, but there will be spaces by 10am. There is a small cafe there that serves drinks and light refreshments. There are also public toilets. It is well maintained, and most people there are local residents - this is not somewhere especially popular for people from further afield. There is only one place on the mere that dogs can swim, which is very close to the car park (from the car park go toward the mere, turn right at the Mere, and the path down to the lake is a little further on, just as you get into the trees). Dogs have to be kept on a lead on most of the path around the mere. There are limited views of the mere, as a local angling club owns all the area immediately adjacent to the mere and the path is set back behind the trees and bushes most of the way round. Aside from walking around the mere and visiting the cafe there is not much else to do here. Some people enjoy feeding the wildlife (birds, ducks, geese) near the watersports centre. It isn't too far from the centre of town, about a 20 minute walk, so it is quite feasible to come here and park for the day (£1.50), walking around the mere and then going into town. Note car park closes with the gate across the entrance at dusk. It is a great place to run, with a good path and flat. No bicycles are allowed.
