Navigation and Nightime/Limited Visibility Specialties

点评：My 14 year old son and I recently completed two dive specialties, Navigation and Limited Visibility, with Brad and Dive Winnipesaukee.
I have been on dive trips where people in the water worth us were completing navigation diving which consisted of the instructor asking them where the boat was and them pointing to where they thought the boat was, no compass involved, and getting it wrong every time.
I knew I wanted to go to Dive Winni for our specialty training because of the thorough training we had with them for our open water training.
Navigation was first done on land allowing us to practice compass skills. From there we hit the Wolfeboro bay. We each completed square, triangle and "T" patterns by making various degree turns from am original heading.
Our Night/Limited Visibility specialty was done in a calm cove and a full moon was handy for a little extra visibility on the surface. Brad was extra patient with us, trying to figure out our equipment with this new thing called darkness and limited visibility all around!
We both completed a square and triangle pattern! It was very rewarding when we surfaced just feet from the starting marker and a little funny when I decided (under water) to go the wrong way because my bezel didn't illuminate, out of sight, out of mind. But, on a serious note, we can take these new skills and apply them on every dive and build on what Brad taught us.
